Learning environments can either nurture or destroy a learners ability to be successful. For this standard the teacher must use the resources around them, ie other teachers, administration, etc, to create a community of learners that fosters a sense of mutual respect, active engagement in learning, and self motivation. Without this standard, it would be extremely easy for some kids to be left behind, and the overall success of the classroom to go down.
