In this standard the teacher must understand how a learner grows and develops, and recognize the patterns that can vary on all aspects of an individual. They then must use this knowledge to implement appropriate material that is challenging to the learner. It is important because the classroom is so varied, and if a teacher does not have a knowledge of this standard, then they will not be successful in bringing the curriculum into the reach of all the students
